"CopperGarden®" still alembic 100 liters welded
Large, hand-forged still from the CopperGarden coppersmith´s. The still consists of a large 100 liter capacity, solidly welded (hard soldered) boiler and a perfectly formed head with screwed on swan neck, as well as a generously-sized worm condenser.
The shape of the still is the same as the traditional alembics which evolved in the Middle Ages and has survived even till today. Thanks to the balloon shape of the boiler, the mash heats up evenly and does not tend to burn. The widely formed head transports the full aroma from the mash fast and without fail to the swan neck and into the condenser.
Stills which are built like this are used especially when a strong aroma and the traditional method of distillation are desired. Especially famous whiskys are almost always distilled in an alembic still, but fruit schnapps and all kinds of fine spirits also benefit from this type of construction.
Ideally, you first distil a raw spirit and afterwards a fine spirit. This allows you to distil larger amounts of mash reliably in fewer runs. Alternatively, we could also fit the still with an appropriate refining lentil, which boosts the alcohol content during the first run and saves you the second distillation. However, double distillation is traditional.
Important information:
Distillation is strictly regulated or even forbidden in some countries. Please inform yourself and pay attention to the regulations in your country. We can ship worldwide, but we cannot check if you are allowed to own a still. Shipping within the EU is completely unrestricted. For shipping to countries outside the EU we have to affix the invoice and shipping list to the outside of the package. Up to now we have never had problems with the importation of our stills into other countries.
