"Al-Ambik®" 30-60% Alcoholmeter with Thermometer
This robust hydrometer, made in Germany, accurately measures the alcohol content of your spirits and liquors. It has a fine measurement range of 30-60% volume and a perfectly readable scale, ensuring precise results. This alcohol meter is ideal for fine-tuning and verifying the strength of your homemade beverages, particularly within the normal range of 38-52% volume.
Technical expertise: This hydrometer measures the alcohol content based on the specific gravity of the alcohol-water mixture. Each alcohol meter is individually calibrated at a measurement temperature of 20 °C. As temperature affects the density and weight of a liquid, the measurement results would differ at a different temperature. To account for this, this high-quality measuring instrument is equipped with a thermometer and an additional measurement scale. If the temperature differs, you can immediately recognize it and conveniently read the exact alcohol content using the extra scale. You can achieve precise measurements even at different temperatures without the need for complicated calculations.
As an accessory, we recommend using a 250 ml measuring cylinder. The alcohol meter should be able to float freely in the alcohol during measurement.
Note: Please be aware that this alcohol meter can accurately measure the alcohol content only in water-alcohol mixtures. For wine, you will need a vinometer, for measuring freshly prepared mash you will need an Öchslewaage or a (Klosterneuburger) mostwaage. Only when measuring sugar-based alcohols like liqueurs does it become challenging. We recommend calculating the alcohol content in liqueur production and saving on the cost of a sample distillation device or a specialized refractometer. Alcohol meters are not suitable for liqueurs!
