"CopperGarden®" Distillation Unit 0.5 Liter "Charentais"

Here you will receive a very elegant miniature distillery modeled after the large brandy, cognac, or calvados distilleries traditionally used in France and Spain for noble wines. Theoretically, you could produce your own brandy or calvados at home with such a beautiful still, but unfortunately, our laws prohibit private alcohol distillation. Accordingly, we must present this wonderful still for decoration, for experiments, or as a display object for collectors and enthusiasts. If you want to understand or demonstrate the function of such a unique distillation unit, simply fill the boiler with water.

We guarantee that you'll have fun with the still and its functions even without alcohol. It is a valuable gift for enthusiasts, almost like a small steam engine, and undoubtedly a real enhancement for any room when displayed on a shelf, windowsill, or desk.

The Charentais still distills slowly and quite aromatically when used! Traditionally, the beautiful stills of this design are used in the French Charente region around the town of Cognac to distill the famous and unique cognacs. In Normandy, the popular calvados is distilled, and in Spain, the brandies from Jerez are made.

This miniature still is a decorative yet highly functional masterpiece and comes highly recommended as a gift for all calvados, brandy, and cognac lovers.

Legal or illegal? What you need to know about distilling with this still.

Since January 1, 2018, the new Alcohol Tax Law has been in effect in Germany. You may purchase this still in Germany, as well as in Switzerland and Austria, but unfortunately, you cannot use it for alcohol distillation. If you distill alcohol with this still and are caught, it will be considered tax evasion, and you could face a fine (corresponding to the distilled quantities of alcohol) as well as the confiscation of the distillation unit. We would then be happy to sell you a new one.

In Germany, you may freely purchase and use stills with up to 2 liters of boiler capacity, but unfortunately not for alcohol distillation. The situation is similar in Switzerland, although you may possess stills with up to 3 liters there. In Austria, you may distill gin and other spirits with already taxed alcohol, but you cannot "purify" alcohol from your own mash, wine, or beer. In the case of the Charentais, distillation with wine would also be prohibited in Austria.

We explicitly sell this still as a display model for collectors and enthusiasts and recommend it for decoration, experimentation, or the distillation of water.
