"CopperGarden" still Alquitara 200L (traditional)
Original hand-forged alquitara from the traditional CopperGarden forge. The alquitara stills were almost forgotten in the course of the industrial revolution, and yet this simple concept of the top-mounted condenser is obviously effective. In the late Middle Ages and at the beginning of the modern era this still was called Moor´s head still, not only because it originated in Arabia but especially because of the large top-mounted condenser which looks like a turban, the wide Oriental headdress.
The alquitara still which is crafted in the CopperGarden forge today still functions, despite all the improvements, according to the simple and fascinating distillation method. The condenser sits directly over the lyne arm – so the vapour cools very quickly again after rising and drips into a fitted collection channel. The distillate is then drained off sideways. It is especially suitable for all distillation when as much aroma as possible should be retained and transferred to the distillate. We recommend an alquitara particularly for very flavorful fruit, wine and pomace brandy – and for herbal distillates, spirits and essential oils, when you do not want to use steam distillation. Please note that we also supply the alquitara still in a special version for essential oils and for steam distillation. The still described here is the traditional model.
Important information:
Distillation is strictly regulated or even forbidden in some countries. Please inform yourself and pay attention to the regulations in your country. We can ship worldwide, but we cannot check if you are allowed to own a still. Shipping within the EU is completely unrestricted. For shipping to countries outside the EU we have to affix the invoice and shipping list to the outside of the package. Up to now we have never had problems with the importation of our stills into other countries.
