"CopperGarden®" 5 Liter Still with Fillable Aroma Column
This high-quality "CopperGarden®" still with the removable aroma column is an excellent choice and extremely versatile. Clearly, it is a top-class still suitable for all types of distillation. Essential oils, hydrosols, distilled water, alternative fuels, or, of course, alcohol: This wonderful still is suitable for every purpose, even though the sale in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland must be reported to customs and not everything can be distilled privately.
Nonetheless, it is important to know that you do not need a permit for the purchase and use! You simply need to register the still with your local customs office within three days of delivery. It is sufficient to provide your address and the future location of the still, as well as to state what you intend to distill. If you want to distill alcohol, you will need a commercial distiller's license.
What makes the "CopperGarden®" column still so versatile? Well, all components are optimally coordinated, allowing you to distill either with or without the column.
The still consists of a meticulously welded 5-liter boiler made from three components, the side-swinging column with a capacity of approximately 2 liters and an integrated sieve, the perfectly designed cap with an attached conical riser, and the generously sized snake cooler with water inlet and outlet attached to conically flared fittings. Application Examples:
- If you fill the column with pomace and the boiler with water, you will obtain excellent pomace brandy (Grappa / Marc / Raki / Orujo).
- Alternatively, you can fill the boiler with water and the column with plants of your choice to obtain high-quality plant water and essential oils through steam distillation.
- Or, if you ferment with turbo yeast and fill the mash into the boiler, filling the column with raschig rings, stainless steel plates, or glass can enhance the resistance for the steam, allowing you to distill very high-proof alcohol.
- Fill the boiler with neutral alcohol, vodka, or grain alcohol, and the column with an aromatic carrier (anise, caraway, fennel, raspberries, nuts, etc.) of your choice, and you will obtain delicious spirits or create your own gin with juniper.
You will have thousands of possibilities, depending on your desires! In Austria, you may even privately distill spirits and gin with purchased (taxed) alcohol if you register the still.
Recommended Accessories for This Still:
We recommend two pieces of 25 cm copper mesh. One can be bent in front of the spirit tube to prevent burning during the distillation of plant materials, while the second is used to refine the sieve of the column when distilling fine plants. Additionally, we recommend the "Al-Ambik®" distillation thermometer, the 14.5 cm Rommelsbacher quick-cooking plate, as well as a "Worry-Free" accessory set for stills over 3 liters.

<h2><strong>Legal Notices regarding the Purchase of a Still over 2 Liters</strong></h2> <p>This still is subject to registration in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Please order only if you can register this still at your customs office or provide a billing and shipping address in another country. Distillation systems over 2 liters may only be used privately for the production of essential oils, hydrosols, or water.</p> <p>For this still, there is a dual registration requirement in DE and AT. We must report the sale of the distillery within three days to the customs office responsible for us in Gieu00dfen (Hessen). You must register the purchase of the still at your local customs office no later than three days after delivery. A simple letter with your address and an explanation of what you intend to distill is sufficient. You do not need a permit, but customs would like to know who owns a still.</p> <p>Important: You need a commercial distiller's license to distill alcohol. Private alcohol distillation is prohibited in Germany and Switzerland.</p> <p>For shipments to Switzerland, we must attach a copy of the invoice to the outside of the package, as we do for shipments to all other countries outside the EU, so that customs can accurately calculate and charge their taxes and fees. In most cases, no one notices that it is a still subject to registration in Switzerland. However, per an agreement with the Swiss Federal Customs Administration, we must inform Swiss customers that larger stills are also subject to registration as they are in AT and DE.</p> <p>For shipments to all other European Union countries, there is nothing special to consider.
